At night, Ember is a full scale bar/night club. But, during the day, Ember is an excellent casual dining restaurant. It has a very large indoor and outdoor dining area. Most of the restaurant opens up, so this is the perfect place for a fall or spring Florida day. The food is good, with generous portions, but the atmosphere is what did it for me. I definitely recommend this place for a refreshing, relaxing meal.

Hurricane Grill & Wings

There are numerous wing places in Orlando, and Hurricane Grill and Wings is yet another one. Hurricane Grill and Wings does little to separate itself from the competition. It has an average beer selection, having about 10 beers on tap, and about 16 bottled options. The bottled beers are often just duplicates of those on tap, and the most “craft” beer is Blue Moon. There are 30 flavors of wings to choose from, with something for just about every taste. I chose the Cajun wings, which are a dry rub. The wings are good size, large in comparison to many other places in town, and they come with a side order of fries or homemade kettle cooked chips. The kettle chips didn’t even taste like they were salted, so came across as being very bland.

Since you get a side, and the wings are large, you can get away with ordering fewer wings than you would at other places, and still be satisfied. I would prefer to skip the side and pay less though. When I eat wings, I don’t want to waste any belly room on anything else. All in all, Hurricane Grill and Wings is good, but isn’t great. If I had my choice between them and other wing places in town, I would generally go with someplace else. But, if you want wings, and this is your only option, it will suffice.

Universal Studios Turkey Legs – Orlando, Florida

The alluring aroma of the smoked turkey legs hits you at every turn as you wander around the park. It doesn’t take long for them to become irresistible to you. You no longer care about the rides or attractions, you need one of these turkey legs. You quickly find the closest stand and buy one, bite into its deliciousness. Your mouth waters with enjoyment, and you continue to devour the turkey leg. But, after a few bites you notice how damn salty these things really are. After about 3 or 4 bites, these things become inedible. So remember, next time the irresistible aroma of these turkey legs grabs you by the nose hairs, resist the urge because you will only be disappointed.

Chili’s Grill & Bar 10 Meals for Under $7

Chili’s is running a special right now with 10 meals for under $7, which basically means $6.99 for most of them. Many of these meals are just smaller portions of items already on the menu, while others were always under $7. I like the smaller portions for less money. The chicken soft tacos are a great choice. The meal comes with two chicken soft tacos, stuff with lettuce, tomato and onion, and your choice of one side. I got the loaded mashed potatoes figuring it was the biggest bang for my buck, but there are healthier options such as steamed broccoli, salad, corn on the cob, and others. The sweet chile glazed Kiickn’ Crispers are excellent as well. The mean comes with 4 crispers and a choice of side.

All in all, this is special is a great deal for a cheap and tasty meal. Couple it with Chili’s 2-for-1 drinks all day, every day (most drinks, but not all), and you’ve got a great place to go hang out with some friends, or watch the game at the bar area.

Ker’s Wing House

Ker’s Wing House is a bar and grill style restaurant with a scantily clad staff. It may sound familiar to another chain, but the main difference is that the food here is good. They have a solid beer selection, which makes a perfect partner for their wings. Their wings come in a variety of flavors, Blackened being my favorite. Their Blackened wings are a nice mix of Cajun spices. You can also get the wings breaded, buffalo style, or naked.

Wing House offers a variety of sides as well, including fries, chili fries, onion rings, jalapeƱo poppers, and many more. One side they are famous for is their fried pickles, which are a nice is of sweet and tangy. The service at Ker’s is second only to the food. The only complaint that I have about the service, and Wing House in general, is that the staff comes by towards the end of your meal trying to sell you various merchandise including shot glasses, playing cards, calendars, and more. Putting up with this is a small price to pay for a great meal that will not leave you hungry.
