Korean BBQ Taco Box

I have to admit, I’m late to the food truck craze sweeping Orlando, and the nation. I really have been meaning to try more, but I rarely carry cash and they can be hard to track down. Luckily, my latter problem can often be solved by following the food truck on various social networking sites, like in the case of Korean BBQ Taco Box’s twitter account.

This being my first experience with a food truck, I didn’t really know what to expect. I was surprised to learn that I had to wait for my food to be prepared, around 10 minutes, but have learned that this is normal, and that (some) food trucks should be looked at as gourmet food on wheels, not fast food. The food at Korean BBQ Taco Box definitely displays the more gourmet aspects. The chicken teriyaki taco was delicious, and while I’m not 100% sure of what each side items, it doesn’t really matter, because everything was excellent.

While I didn’t expect to wait as long as I did for the food, it was my expectations that were off. The rest of my experience was very good. The staff was pleasant and friendly. The price might seem a little steep if it’s your first time at a food truck, but after you experience the quality and quantity of the food, the price becomes very reasonable.

World of Beer – Lake Mary

I’ve been to the World of Beer on University near UCF several times, and it’s always been crowded except for one time I went during the day, in the middle of the week when class was not in session at UCF. Now I’ve only been to the World of Beer in Lake Mary a couple times, but it was during the day on a Saturday both times and the place wasn’t crowded either time. World of Beer serves some food itself, but there’s also several places in the plaza that serve food, which you can pick up or have delivered directly to the bar. There’s a great rotating selection of draft and bottled beers, most of which are priced between $3 and $8.

Gringos Locos

Located in downtown Orlando, Gringos Locos offers a variety of Mexican fare. The food is pretty good, and has a distinct flavor, setting it apart from the many Mexican restaurants in the area. The staff is very friendly, and the service is quick, making it great for lunch downtown. They’re also open late, until 3am or later, which is convenient for some late night munchies after a night downtown.

  • Price: $4 – $8

Maggiano’s Little Italy

  • Food Quantity: 9/10
  • Food Quality: 9/10
  • Cleanliness: 8/10
  • Atmosphere: 7/10
  • Service: 8/10
  • Price: $10 – $30

Maggiano’s Little Italy is a great traditional Italian restaurant located in Pointe Orlando. It offers a classy, yet casual, atmosphere. The prices are comparable to Olive Garden, but the food is much better. It tastes like a home cooked meal and the portions are more than enough for a single meal. Make sure you save room for dessert because their cheesecake and chocolate cake are excellent. The one complaint I would have is that while their individual tables are nicely sized, the tables themselves are too close together. Maybe you could request a booth if you want a little more privacy. Other than that, I’d highly recommend Maggiano’s, for big parties, families, or an intimate dinner for two.
