East Palace is hidden on the back side of I-Drive, actually being located off of Universal Blvd. It’s a nice, quiet place to have lunch. There’s not a lot of traffic because of it’s location. The food is decent, the entrees are tasty, but the fried rice is a little bland. The service here is very good. While I got mine to go, I did see the staff helping an elderly couple with their food. They helped pour sauce, and situate everything on the table. While it might not sound impressive, just remember that this isn’t typical service at most restaurants. I wouldn’t make a special trip to eat here, but it can be a nice change from some of the godawful food that can be found in the tourist trap area of I-Drive.

Empire Szechuan is a nice quiet little Chinese restaurant just north of the heart of downtown Orlando. It is not very busy so the service is good and the food is made fresh.  The prices are reasonable. The only thing I didn’t really like about the place was the fact that they don’t have fountain sodas.

Pei Wei Asian Diner

Pei Wei Asian Diner, owned by P.F. Chang’s, is like a stripped down version of P.F. Chang’s. The atmosphere is inconsistent, giving it a fast food feel while ordering, with more of a full service restaurant while dining. Because this, it might seem a bit expensive for what you get (both food and atmosphere). I don’t care for P.F. Chang’s much, so my feelings are the same for Pei Wei. If you like P.F. Chang’s though, but don’t want a long sit down meal, this is a good alternative. Meal options are much the same, as is the quality of the food.
