Tibby’s New Orleans Kitchen serves a variety of Cajun and New Orleans style foods, including jambalaya, creole, gumbo, and po’ boys. I’ve have the blackened chicken po’ boy and the Andouille sausage po’ boy. Honestly, I wasn’t really impressed with either sandwich. Both had more of a charred flavor from the grill than any flavor from the meat. Their fried pickles are good, as are their regular and sweet potato fries.

Their beer is served in giant goblets, that look and feel a lot biggger than they are. I believe they’re only a pint, but feel like they are 20oz or more. My first time here, I placed a to-go order, and the bartender offered my fiance and I 2 free beers while we wait because one of them had poured extra by mistake. It was a great gesture, and won me over. Free beer is one of the quickest ways to my heart.

There’s a nice atmosphere with New Orleans style decorations and pictures of the area. It is family friendly. I had expected it to be more of a bar-restaurant type atmosphere, but it is not. I’d like to see live music here given the style of the place, and since New Orleans is known for live music, but I’m not sure if they have the room.

I’ve driven by Brian’s more times than I can count, always wondering what this quaint little mom and pop diner had to offer. I finally stopped by for breakfast one day, and have been back several times in a matter of months. They serve breakfast and lunch every day, and breakfast is served all day. Their omelets are delicious and cover half the plate. I have not had a single unappetizing thing for breakfast here, be it pancakes, french toast, bacon, eggs, sausage, home fries, or even plain old toast. Their sweet rolls, mini cinnamon buns, are a delicious breakfast/dessert. Their portions are generous, even bacon, giving you 4 slices, rather than the usual 3, and sometimes even 2 compared to other restaurants. Their service is fast and very friendly, not hesitating to strike up a conversation with you.

I highly recommend Brian’s Restaurant. The food and service are great, and it is highly affordable.

Buffalo Wild Wings has a large variety of flavors of wings, and has an excellent beer selection, as well as a full bar. Aside from that, there isn’t much else positive to say about the place. Most of the appetizers are sub par, either being very bland, overly salty, or just generally bad. In particular, the nachos should be avoided at all costs. The chips are flavorless and stale, and the salsa is worse than most salsas you can purchase in a store. The wings are rather expensive, starting at around $8 for 12 wings.

The atmosphere at this particular location is often so loud you cannot hear the people at your table talk. It is often overcrowded, to the point where you usually bump into people at nearby tables if you move around at all. The service is some of the worst I have had anywhere on several occasions, and the only reason I continue going is generally because it is a convenient location and something most people can agree upon. If you are looking for a nice place to sit down and have a meal, avoid this location at all costs.

Many eateries have promotions offering free stuff with the purchase of a gift card around the holidays. I generally don’t recommend gift cards since some come with restrictions and fees, and it binds the person to that specific place for purchases, compared to cash. If you are planning on getting a gift card anyway, or if you want to get a little bonus for yourself, I rounded up a bunch of the deals. Not all deals displayed an expiration date, and there are often stipulations on when and on what you can use bonus cards, so please review the fine print before purchasing. Also, many sites are poorly done in Flash, so I was not always able to link you directly to the deals, but did so wherever possible.

Subway has been offering this “deal” on and off for quite a while now. The issue I have with it is that it is not much of a deal. First, the $5 foot long does not apply to all subs, like some of the specialty subs they offer. Second, for the subs it does apply, it is generally only a savings of $0.60-1.00. While sometimes every penny counts, you are most likely going to get a drink, which will run you about $1.50. Add tax, and you’re looking at a meal that costs around $7, when they make you think $5. Further, Subway subs are on the low end of quality.

Do yourself a favor and skip the Subway $5 foot long. Instead, try Publix, Firehouse, and to a lesser extent, even Quizno’s is a better alternative.

On a final note, Subway recently had a weekend deal for 2 regular foot long subs for $10, telling you to hurry in because this deal is only good this weekend. I guess they think customers cannot do the math that 2 $5 foot longs is the same as 2 foot long subs for $10.
