Copper Canyon

I first came across Copper Canyon looking for a place for my family to have Easter dinner. While we didn’t eat there that day, the menu looked really appealing. Months later I purchased a Groupon for Copper Canyon and couldn’t wait to finally try this restaurant. While it is more upscale dining, since it is in Pointe Orlando, an area high in tourist traffic, you can really get away with wearing anything here. Although, smart casual would probably make you feel more comfortable in this atmosphere.

We were greeted by our server, who was very welcoming and highly knowledgeable of the menu. He was able to fully answer all of our questions about the menu, and I felt like he knew as much about the food as the chef cooking the meal would. The food was excellent. I had the pork chop, while my fiance had the flank steak. Both were absolutely delicious, as were the sides. The price is a little higher than I generally like to spend on a meal, but the food, service, and atmosphere make up for it. While I wouldn’t eat here on a regular basis (due to the price), I would definitely make this a top spot for special occasions.

Gift Card Bonuses 2010

Here’s the 2010 round up for restaurants offering bonus gift cards with purchases. If you know of any I missed, leave a comment, and I’ll add it to the list. Keep checking this page for updates as well.

While I do try to include any of the fine print details I can find, you should pay close attention to the deals listed here and elsewhere. Bonus gift cards often are only good between certain dates, have a minimum purchase necessary, or cannot be used with other gift cards.

Veterans’ Day 2010

Many restaurants offer free or discounted meals to retired and active duty military on Veterans’ Day. Here is a list of all the deals in your area. And, for those of you eligible, thank you for your service.

If you know of any other restaurants offering deals on Veterans’ Day, leave a comment and I’ll add it to the list.

Darden Restaurants Skimping on Bread

There is a new policy at Darden restaurants, Red Lobster, Olive Garden, Bahama Breeze, Longhorn Steakhouse, Seasons 52, and The Capital Grill. Servers have been given orders to only bring one piece of bread per person to the table each time the table asks for more bread. This might be seen as a way to save money, and cut back on waste, but I think it makes the restaurants look cheap, and only occupies the servers more, possibly degrading service. With regard to cutting back on waste, I know I usually have leftovers and will bring home any uneaten bread as well. To cut back on waste, they could easily ask the table if they would like bread at all, and if so, how much each time.
