Panino’s Pizza is located in the heart of downtown Orlando. They have generous portions, a friendly staff, and great deals. On Mondays and Tuesdays, they offer $1.50 slices of cheese pizza, and discounts on slices of all their specialty pizza. Their slices are big too. One slice should leave you satisfied, and after two slices, you should be stuffed. It’s definitely a great place to grab lunch downtown.

Havana Bistro & Cafe serves up a variety of Cuban style food. The sandwiches are alright, but don’t taste as fresh as other places in town. When I visited, they weren’t very crowded, but it took a while to make my Cuban sandwich, something that is usually pretty quick. The atmosphere gives the vibe that they are trying to be higher scale than they need to be for the type of food they’re serving. If I had the option, I’d drive a few minutes down the road to Amazonas Latin Grill, but Havana Bistro is good enough if you are in the area.

Jersey Mike’s Subs

The bread is baked daily, and the meat is sliced fresh as your sub is made. It doesn’t get much fresher than this. There isn’t a wide variety of toppings, but what they have is great. Subs come in regular, large, and giant sizes. The giant sub (priced accordingly) is much larger than a foot long. They have excellent service. One day, the owner could tell I was having a rough day. I had just come out of a bridal show. He gave us 10% off just because. I highly recommend you try Jersey Mike’s Subs, especially their Philly cheese steak. They make it with sweet peppers, instead of the usual bell peppers.

Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza

I wasn’t really impressed with the pizza. You don’t have to wait long for it, since it bakes in about 4 minutes in the coal fired ovens, but the pizza wasn’t anything special. It didn’t have a unique flavor that I expected from the coal fired ovens. The wings on the other hand were excellent. They don’t come with any sauce, but they’re seasoned to perfection. They’re topped with a huge pile of grilled onions which were some of the most flavorful onions I’ve ever tasted, and the wings also come with 2 slices of garlic bread.

The service is good, nothing out of the ordinary. The place is clean, and the atmosphere is enjoyable. I would recommend skipping the pizza though and going straight for the wings.

Garibaldi Mexican Restaurant

  • Price: $8-$12

Garibaldi Mexican restaurant serves up authentic Mexican cuisine, as well as a variety of Tex-Mex offerings. The food is good and they provide generous portions. The staff was friendly and attentive. My only complaint would be with the size of the restaurant, and their desire to fit as many tables in the small area they have. The tables are practically on top of each other, and you will probably bump into your neighbors once or twice, and vice versa. It wouldn’t say it is a total deal breaker, just try to go there off peak hours.
